We are currently looking for Melbourne based people aged 16-24 to join our team and lead the work of Wear it Purple.

Position description:

Position Description
Operations Officer

Overseeing all Executive positions and their tasks, progression in projects and required developments for the group.

This position will also be in charge of any/all administration (ie: gmail, google drive, processing all signed exec documents, filing, meeting minutes and reports to the Board).

The Operations Officer will also coordinate and hold monthly Executive Team meetings with VIC and NSW to discuss current and upcoming projects and to discuss areas of focus for Wear it Purple.

Selection Criteria:

  • 3-4 hours per week (commitment required during peak period for projects and events)
  • Commitment to LGBTIQ+ rights and issues faced in the rainbow youth community
  • High-level attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team and to supervise and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage priorities effectively and meet strict deadlines
Youth Engagement Officer / YAC Leader(s) – VIC, SA, TAS

Continue to grow and build up the participation of our Youth Action Council members across VIC, TAS and SA.

You will be required to coordinate monthly meetings with the YAC group and to run the meetings with the group (minutes to be taken and shared with the Exec members and Board Mentor)

Work collaboratively with YAC and other Exec members (NSW included at times) to achieve project goals, events and more.

This position is responsible for empowering the YAC and volunteers within the organisation and providing support for ideas that support our vision and mission.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 hours per week
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team and to supervise and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage priorities effectively and meet strict deadlines
Community Engagement Officer(s)

The Community Engagement Officer will be responsible for engaging with our key stakeholders as well as potential future partners/supporters.
You may be required to attend sponsor events as a representative, speaker or guest.

This position requires strong professionalism as you are representing WiP.

You will be required to understand the needs and wants of our stakeholders and work together to achieve a successful outcome that supports the vision and mission of Wear it Purple.

This position also requires overview of the participation from WiP to Pride Fairs/Festivals within VIC, TAS and SA. You will be required to submit applications for attendance to these events, coordinate the volunteers attending as well as stock, and provide an update on the event outcome (ie brief overview, sales vs donations, attendance, and review) to the teams.

You will be required to work collaboratively with all Exec, YAC and Board members where required on updates, projects and support relating to the relationships with our stakeholders.

Social Media Coordinator

The Social Media Coordinators will work collaboratively with others in the Social Media team. The Social Media Coordinators will be required in preparing draft posts, managing negative comments/posts, engaging with supporters (ie: liking, commenting, and sharing), responding to all enquires in a timely manner.

You will also be required to collaborate with others outside of the Social Media team – this may include our Graphic Designer and Website Manager.

Requirements:

  • 2 hours per week
  • Social Media knowledge and skills
Schools Liaison Officer(s)

This position is responsible for the ongoing relations with schools in the VIC, TAS and SA areas.

Strong presentation skills are required as you may be involved in school presentations, speeches and other school related events.

The Schools Liaison Officer(s) are required to coordinate to work alongside the YAC to have members who will join or represent WiP at schools.

You will be required to review the training/presentation content and make any relevant changes required according to the presentation/training within the schools.

Desirable skills: group facilitation, youth engagement, relationship management, LGBTIQ+ training/knowledge.

Events Operations Officer(s)

Coordinating and manage the organisation/planning, running and feedback of events. You will be required to prepare briefs to the teams and work in collaboration with other WiP members/volunteers to achieve goals for events.

Requirements

Merchandise Coordinators

Processing orders received, managing stock take, reviewing and updating stock availability, ordering new stock where required.
Preparing and distributing school packs, corporate packs

Time requirement: Variers – busier during the months leading up to Wear it Purple Day.
